| Word | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Reapeted Addition Property of Multiplication | If n is a positive interger, then nx=x+x.........................+x |
| like terms | Terms that involve the same variables to the same powers. |
| unlike terms | Terms that involve the different variables to the different exponents. |
| Multiplication Property of Equality | When equal quantites are multiplied by the same number, the reasulting qauntities are equal. |
| equation of the form ax+b=c | It is when a,b and c are known and x in unknown. |
| Distributive Property of Multiplication over Addition | For any numbers a, b, and x, ax+bx=(a+b)x and x(a+b)=xa+xb |
| Distributive Property of Multiplication over Subtraction | For any numbers a, b, and x, ax-bx=(a-b)x and x(a-b)=xa-xb |
| net | A plane pattern for a 3d figure |
| surface area | The sum of the areas of the faces of a solid. |
| numerically equal | It is when the area and perimeter of a 2d are equal. |
| acre | A unit of area that is equal to 43,560 sq ft. |
| height | The perpendicular distance from any vertex of a triangle to the side opposite that vertex. |
| altitude | The perpendicular segment from a vertex of a triangle to the opposite side of the triangle. |
| base of a triangle | The side of triangle perpendicular to an altitude. |
| Area Formula for Any Triangle | Let b be the lenght of a side of a triangle with area A. Let h be the length of the altitude drawn to that side. Then bh1/2=A |
| trapeziod | A qaudrilateral with at least one pair of parallel sides. |
| Area Formula for a Trapezoid | Let b be the length of a side of a trapezoid with b1 and b2, and height h. Then A=1/2*h(b1+b2) |
| trapeziod------height, altitude, and base | These are used to find the area of trapeziods. |
