Voc and properties of exponents
Term | Definition |
---|---|
Base | The number being multiplied by itself. The number immediately before the exponent. |
Evaluate | Substitute the given number for the variable in the expression and then simplify |
Exponent | Shows the number of times the base is multiplied by itself. |
Expanded form | The way to write out an expression without using an exponent. |
Reciprocal | You flip a fraction. When they are multiplied together they equal 1. Also called the multiplicative Inverse. |
Algebraic Expression | PEMDAS which is used to evaluate expressions. |
Product | The result of 2 or more numbers multiplied together. |
Quotient | The result when one number is divided by another. |
Power to Power | The base is being raised to a power and then another power. You multiply the exponents or powers. |
Coefficient | A number used to multiply a variable. It is in front of the variable |
