Place Value

TermDefinition
Period A group of three places in a number, usually separated by commas. The first three periods are the ones period, the thousands period, and the millions period.
Word Form the way a number is written with words or said aloud
Expanded Form the way a number is written to show the value of each digit.
Standard Form the way a number is written with numerals
Place Value the value assigned to a digit based on its position in a number
Compare to decide if one number is greater than, less than, or equal to another number
Round to approximate the value of a number to be used when estimating
Estimate to give an approximate number or answer based on mathematical thinking
Ascending numbers arranged in order from least to greatest
Millions the name of the period for 7, 8, and 9 digit numbers.
