Place Value
| Term | Definition |

| Period | A group of three places in a number, usually separated by commas. The first three periods are the ones period, the thousands period, and the millions period. |
| Word Form | the way a number is written with words or said aloud |
| Expanded Form | the way a number is written to show the value of each digit. |
| Standard Form | the way a number is written with numerals |
| Place Value | the value assigned to a digit based on its position in a number |
| Compare | to decide if one number is greater than, less than, or equal to another number |
| Round | to approximate the value of a number to be used when estimating |
| Estimate | to give an approximate number or answer based on mathematical thinking |
| Ascending | numbers arranged in order from least to greatest |
| Millions | the name of the period for 7, 8, and 9 digit numbers. |
