| Term | Definition |

| Area | The measure, in square units, of the inside of a plane figure |
| Base Number | The number in a repeated multiplication expression. Also, the number under the exponent. |
| Common Factor | Factors that are the same for both |
| Common Multiple | Multiples that are the same for both |
| Composite Number | A whole number that has factors other than 1 and itself |
| Cubed | The value when a number is multiplied together 3 times |
| Difference | The result when one number is subtracted from another OR how two amounts are not equal |
| Equivalent | Naming the same number, quantity, amount or measure |
| Evaluate | To determine the value |
| Exponent | The number of times to repeat the base number and multiply (AKA power) |
| Expression | A mathematical phrase without an equal sign |
| Factor | The whole numbers that are multiplied to get a product |
| Factor Pairs | Two whole numbers, which when multiplied result in a whole number |
| Factor Tree | A diagram used to find the prime factors of a number |
| False | Not agreeing with truth or fact; incorrect, not true |
| Greatest Common Factor | The factor in common that is the greatest |
| Least Common Multiple | The multiple in common that is the least |
| Multiple | The product of a whole number and any other whole number |
| Numerical Expression | A mathematical phrase including numbers and operations without an equal sign |
| Order of Operations | Rules that define which procedures to perform first in order to evaluate a given mathematical expression. Note: PEMDAS |
| Parentheses | Used in mathematics as grouping symbols for operations. When simplifying an expression, the operations within the parentheses are performed first. |
| Perfect Square | The answer when a whole number is multiplied by itself |
| Power | The number of times to repeat the base number and multiply |
| Prime Factor | A prime number that is a factor |
| Prime Factorization | A way to write a composite number |
| Prime Number | A whole number that has exactly two different factors, 1 and itself |
| Product | The answer to a multiplication problem |
| Quotient | The answer to a division problem |
| Squared | The value when a number is multiplied by itself |
| Sum | The answer to an addition problem |
| True | In agreement with all of the facts |
| Value | How much or how many |
| Venn Diagram | A diagram that shows how parts of two or more sets are related |
