Vocabulary for start of the 23-24 school year

quadrilateral a polygon with exactly 4 sides and 4 angles
perpendicular meeting to form right angles
parallel lines that never intersect
polygon any closed, flat, straight-lines figure
trapezoid a quadrilateral with 2 parallel sides
compose to make by combining parts
decompose to break into parts
triangle a polygon with 3 sides and 3 angles
area the amount of space inside a closed 2D figure, area is measured in square units
right angle lines that form to make a 90 degree angle
parallelogram a quadrilateral with opposide sides that are parallel and equal in length
dimension length in 1 direction - a figure may have 1, 2 or 3 dimensions
corresponds directly relates to or matches something else
