math vocabulary
| Term | Definition |

| algebraic expressions | an expression which is made up of variables and constants. |
| coefficient | a numerical or constant quantity placed before and multiplying the variable in an algebraic expression. |
| equations | a statement that the values of two mathematical expressions are equal. |
| expression | a statement having minimum of two numbers, or variables, or both and an operator |
| factor | a number or algebraic expression that divides another number or expression evenly—i.e., with no remainder |
| inverse operations | the operation that undoes what was done by the previous operation |
| linear equations | When an equation is given in this form, it's pretty easy to find both intercepts (x and y). |
| literal equation | an equation with more than one variable, and every variable has an important characteristic. |
| term | a mathematical object while a formula denotes a mathematical fact. |
| variable | A symbol for a value we don't know yet. |
| operations | refers to calculating a value using operands and a math operator. |
