| Register | the variety of language used to convey a setting. Can be based on social background, location, time period, or formal and informal. |

| Tone | The author's attitude toward his audience. |
| Mood | The ATMOSPHERE of a work of literature. |
| Style | A writer's unique feeling, linguistic habits. |
| Oeuvre | a french word that means "work" or "body of work", this allows for analysis of an artist's work, and a better perspective on their contributions. |
