What is a physical property? The characteristics of matter that can be changed without changing its composition (characteristics that are directly observable)
What are chemical properties? The characteristics that determine how the composition of matter changes as a result of contact with other matter or the influence of energy. (characteristics that describe the behavior of matter)
What heterogeneous mixture? A mixture made of multiple substances, whose presence can be seen.
What is a homogenous mixture? A mixture made of multiple substance that appear to be one substance.
What are the two types of pure substances? Element & Compound
What are two types of mixtures? Heterogenous & Homogenous
What is an elemental substance? A substance made of one type of atom (some elements found as multi atom molecules in nature)
How can you make a compound? Combine two elements.
What is a compound? A substance made of one type of molecule or an array of ions. (units contain two or more different kinds of atoms)
Two types of matter? Pure substances and Mixtures.
What is an exact number? A number whose value is known with complete certainty is exact
