| Term | Definition |

| Specific Heat Capacity | The amount of energy needed for the change in temperature of 1kg of the substance by 1 Kelvin. q = mcΔT |
| Specific Latent Heat | The heat needed to change the state of 1kg of a substance. (J/Kg) |
| Thermometric Property | A physical property that changes measurably with changing temperature |
| Conduction | The transfer of energy through a substance without movement of the particles of the substance |
| Convection | The transfer of energy through a substance by the movement of the particles |
| Radiation | The movement of energy in straight lines from the surface of a hot body, without the need of a medium to pass through. |
| Boyle's Law | When a fixed mass of gas is kept at constant temperature its volume is inversely proportional to its pressure. |
