| Individual (1) | Who or what the data are about |
| Categorical Variable (1) | People are put in a group or category (Ex: Race, Gender, Occupation) |
| Numeric Variable (1) | Puts people in number values (Ex: Age in years, Weight in pounds, GPA, etc.) |
| Value (1) | The data/number recorded |
| Observational Study (1) | A research team observes what's happening and doesn't interfere, intervene, or doesn't ask questions. STRICTLY OBSERVING |
| Sample Survey (1) | Researchers go out and ask people questions (Ex: internet survey, mail survey, phone call interview, etc.) |
| Population (1) | The group we want to talk about/entire group of people about which we want information from (Ex: All US adults, All Ohioans, etc.) |
| Sample (1) | Specific amount from population (Ex: 1050 US adults, 500 Ohioans, etc.) |
| Census (1) | A sample survey but with the goal/attempt to include the entire population in the sample. |
| Experiment (1) | Manipulate or change some variable by applying a treatment/solution to one or more groups of people & observe what happens. |
