Angles, Triangles & Prisms Geometry Vocabulary

| protractor | a tool used for measuring angles |
| adjacent angles | two angles that share a side and a vertex |
| vertex | the point where two sides or rays meet |
| right angle | an angle that measures 90 degrees |
| straight angle | an angle that measures 180 degrees |
| acute angle | an angle that measures less than 90 degrees |
| obtuse angle | an angle that measures more than 90 degrees but less than 180 degrees |
| reflex angle | an angle greater than 180 degrees |
| isosceles triangle | a triangle with at LEAST two congruent sides |
| congruent | same size, same shape |
| equilateral triangle | a triangle with all sides congruent |
| supplementary angles | two angles whose measures add up to 180 degrees |
| complementary angles | two angles whose measures add up to 90 degrees |
| vertical angles | two opposite angles that share the same vertex; formed when two lines intersect; they are always congruent (the same measure) |
| perpendicular | intersecting (crossing) at a 90 degree angle |
