Module 10 Vocab

TermDefinition
Average The sum of two or more quantities divided by the number of quantities; the mean.
Box plot A diagram that is constructed using five values.
Cluster Data that are grouped closely together.
Distribution The arrangement of data values.
Dot plot A diagram that shows the frequency of data on a number line.
First quartile The first quartile is the median of the dat values lees then the median.
Gap An empty space or interval in a set of data.
Histogram A type of bar graph used to display numerical data that have been organized into equal intervals.
Interquartile range (IQR) A measure of variation in a set of numerical data, the interquartile range is the distance between the first and third quartiles of the data set.
Mean The sum of the numbers in a set of data divides by true number of pieces of data.
Mean absolute deviation (MAD) A measure of variation in a set of numerical data, computed by adding the distances between each data value and the mean, the dividing by the number of data values.
Measures of center Numbers that are used to describe the center of a data set. These measures include the mean or median.
