| mendicancy | the state of being a beggar |
| obeisances | a physical gesture, especially a bow, that you make in order to show your respect for someone or something. |
| besmirch | charge falsely or with malicious intent; attack the good name and reputation of someone |
| squalid | dirty, untidy, and in bad condition. |
| ruffian | a man who behaves violently and is involved in crime. |
| stupefied | shocked or surprised in a way that makes a person unable to think properly for a while. |
| supplicating | asking humbly |
| vagaries | unexpected and unpredictable changes in a situation or in someone's behaviour which you have no control over. |
| sumptuous | grand and obviously very expensive. |
