| contempt | the act of despising : the state of mind of one who despises ;lack of respect or reverence for something |
| defiantly | with a daring or bold resistance to authority |
| obstinate | Difficult to manage, control, or treat ; to act in a particular way and not to change at all, despite what anyone else says: |
| hoodlum | a violent person, especially one who is member of a group of criminals |
| impassive | not showing or feeling any emotion |
| intricate | having a lot of small parts or pieces arranged in a complicated way, and therefore sometimes difficult to understand in detail: |
| dawdle | to do something very slowly, as if you do not want to finish it: |
| haughtily | in an unfriendly way and seeming to consider yourself better than other people |
| glower | to look very angry, annoyed, or threatening |
| disdainfully | in a way that shows someone does not like someone or something and thinks that they do not deserve interest or respect: |

| submerge | to cover or hide something completely; to go below or make something go below the surface of the sea or a river or lake |
