| quality | the sound of a particular voice |
| resonance | the vibrant tone produced when sound waves strike the chambers of the throat, head, nose and mouth |
| nasality | sound produced through nasal passages, leaving the voice flat |
| pitch | the relative highness or lowness of a voice |
| inflection | modulation variety in pitch |
| monotone | an unvaried speaking tone; lack of inflection throughout a speech |
| volume | the strength, force, or intensity with which sound is made |
| rate | the speed at which words are spoken |
| diction | selection and pronunciation of words and their combinations in speech |
| schwa | a pronuciation symbol with the sound of "uh," as in "about" |
| voiceless | referring to consonants that do not cause vibration of the vocal folds when sounded |
| voiced | referring to consonants that do cause vibration of the vocal folds when sounded |
| pronunciation | the manner of saying words using the correct sounds in words and placing the accent on the stressed syllables |
