What is a joint committee? A committee that has members from the senate and house with different select committees, investigating various subjects, and keeping congress running smoothly.
What is the role of the conference committee? The role is to set up conference types of bills when they have passed 2 versions of the same bill.
What are the differences between a Public bill and a Private bill? The difference between a public and private bill is that while public bills deal with the nation, private deals with a particular person or place.
Once a bill is introduced in the House and given a number and title, where does it go? it goes to the draft box by the house’s clerk desk.
What is a subcommittee? A small group within a committee.
What does it mean to pigeonhole a bill? When a bill is put aside and ignored
What does it mean to filibuster in the Senate? The unlimited debate over a bill
What can the Senate do to stop the filibuster? If the senate gets ⅗ of senators to vote for cloture.
Where does a bill go if it has passed both chambers of Congress, but in different forms? The bill goes to the president once it passes both chambers of congress.
Once a bill reaches the President, he/she has ten days to take action. What are the four options the Constitution gives to the President regarding the bill? The constitution allows the president to either sign the bill, veto the bill, not sign it within ten days, or pocket veto the bill.
