| can | a modal verb used to express ability, possibility, or permission |
| could | a modal verb used to express past ability or to make polite requests |
| should | a modal verb used to give advice, recommendations, or suggestions |
| must | a modal verb used to express necessity or strong obligation |
| might | a modal verb used to express possibility or uncertainty, especially in the future |
