| Atomic sub-level | Sub division of an energy level consisting of one or more orbitals of the same energy |
| Auto-ignition | Premature ignition |
| Avogadro's Law | Equal volumes of gas have equal numbers of molecules when under equal temperature and pressure conditions |
| Base (Bronsted-Lowry) | Proton Acceptor |
| BOD | Biochemical Oxygen Demand Amount of O2 consumed in ppm when sample kept in the dark for 5 days at 20 degrees celcius |
| Bond Energy | Energy required to break a bond in its gaseous state |
| Boyles' Law | At a constant temperature, the pressure is inversely proportional the the volume |
| Catalyst | Alters the rate of a reaction but is not used up |
| Catalytic Cracking | Splitting of a long chain molecule |
| Catalytic Poison | Substance that blocks active site of catalyst and stops it from working |
| Charles' Law | At a constant pressure, the temperature is directly proportional to the volume |
| Chemical Equilibrium | Forward reaction = reverse reaction |
| Chromatography | Separation of a mixture of components based on their attraction for a stationary phase while carried by a mobile phase |
| Condensation Reaction | Production of a more complex molecule with formation of an unsaturated compound by the loss of a small molecule |

| Conjugate Pair | Acid and base differing by a proton |
