7.1-7.2 Vectors
Physics
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Vector | Magnitude and direction |
| Parallel vectors | 2 or more vectors heading in the same direction |
| Translated | Movement without rotation |
| Antiparallel | Vectors in opposite directions |
| Collinear vectors | Vectors on the same line |
| Perpendicular vectors | Vectors that make a right angle |
| Skewed vectors | Vectors less than 90 degrees and are neither collinear or perpendicular to each other |
| Vector diagram | Simple picture that shows only vectors and angles |
| Resultant | Result of all concurrent vectors |
| Vector composition (vector addiction) | Process of finding the resultant of 2 or more vectors, you either add or subtract |
| What do the signs of positive and negative tell you about the vector? | what direction it’s going |
| How are vectors represented? What tells you the magnitude? What tells you the direction? | the length of the line tells you the magnitude, and the head tells you the direction |
| How is the vector composition? | the process of finding the resultant of 2 or more vectors with either addition or subtraction |
