Angle Relationships

Angle Relationships Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Acute Angle Angle whose measure is less than 90 degrees
Right Angle Angle whose measure is equal to 90 degrees
Obtuse Angle Angle whose measure is greater than 90 degrees
Complementary Angles Two angles whose measure have a sum of 90 degrees
Supplementary Angles Two angles whose sum equals 180 degrees
Vertical Angles When the angles across from each other and have a sum of 360 degrees
Linear Pair Formed when two lines intersect each other at a single point. The angles are said to be linear if they are adjacent to each other after the intersection of the two lines. The sum should always equal 180 degrees
Adjacent Angles Angles that share a side and a vertex
Alternate interior angles The angles inside the parallel line that are on opposite sides of the transversal
alternate exterior angles Angles that are outside a pair of parallel lines and on opposite sides of transversal
same-side interior angles Two angles that are on the same side of the transversal line and on the interior of the two lines
same-side exterior angles Two angles that are on the same side of the transversal line and on the exterior of the two lines
corresponding angles When the angles are in the same position (they will be congruent)
