QuestionAnswer
Simile Comparison of 2 or more unlike things using the words like, as, or than.
Metaphor Comparison of 2 or more unlike things without using the words like, as, or than
Personification Giving the qualities of a person to an animal, an object, or an idea.
Hyperbole An exaggeration.
Onomatopoeia Words that copy of mimic sounds.
Idiom A saying that means something different than it says. It is a commonly known phrase.
Alliteration Repeated consonant sounds at the beginning of words.
Assonance Repetition of identical or similar vowel sounds close together.
Irony Opposite of what you would expect to happen or say.
Oxymoron Combination of words that contradict (go against) themselves.
