Argumentative Text Vocabulary
| Term | Definition |

| Claim | A statement that the author is trying to prove is true. |
| Evidence | Proof that the author uses to back up a claim. The best evidence is factual. |
| Counter-Claim | A statement that opposes the claim. Shows the other side. |
| Rebuttal | Reasons why the counter claim is as valid as the claim. |
| Prove | To try to establish the truth of something. |
| Fact | Something that has been proven true. |
| Opinion | A personal view, belief, or judgement. |
| Biased | A piece of writing that focuses more on opinions than facts. |
| Reasons | The main points made in your essay to justify your claim. |
| Argument | A process of feelings towards a certain topic. |
