TermDefinition
author's attitude How the author feels about the information in a text (positive, negative, or neutral)
author's purpose Why the author wrote: to entertain, persuade, explain, describe, etc.
expository text non-fiction genre of literature - facts
chronological order listing events as they happen in time. What happened first, second, next, etc.
genre a literary category (biography, fiction, folk tale, etc.)
inference to understand information that is not directly stated
narrative In story form, with characters, setting, and plot
stanza A group of lines in a poem
sensory language words used to help the reader feel, taste, see, smell, or hear
persuasive text literature that is meant to convince someone
