symmetry when the object is the same on both sides of the line of symmetry
congruent exact same shape and size
perimeter the measurement of the outside of a shape
area the measure of the inside of a shape
right angle an angle with exactly 90 degrees
obtuse angle an angle that has more than 90 degrees
acute angle an angle that has less than 90 degrees
perpendicular lines two lines which cross at a 90 degree angle
right triangle a triangle with a right angle (90 degrees)
isosceles triangle a triangle with two equal sides and two equal angles
equilateral triangle a triangle with equal sides and equal angles
vertex the point where two lines come together
face the side of a 3D figure
polygon a closed figure made of line segments
point a single position in space
line goes on forever in both directions
ray has one endpoint and goes on forever in one direction
quadrilateral any 4-sided shape
pentagon a shape with 5 sides
parallel lines two lines which are the same distance apart but never touch
parallelogram a 4-sided shape with parallel lines
intersecting lines two lines which cross as one point
trapezoid a 4-sided shape with one pair of parallel lines
scalene triangle a triangle with no equal sides or angles
rhombus 4-sided polygon with 4 equal sides
square 4-sided polygon with equal sides and 4 right angles
rectangle 4-sided polygon with 4 right angles
hexagon a shape with 6 sides
octagon a shape with 8 sides
protractor a tool that measures angles
adjacent angles angles that share a vertex and have a common side
complementary angles two angles that measure up to 90'
supplementary angles two angles that measure up to 180'
vertical angles opposite angles created by intersecting lines
linear pair two angles that form a straight line
equilateral all equal sides of a shape
equiangular all equal angles of a shape
