acids | chemical formula starts with H, are aqueous |
binary acids | "Hydro" + non-metal base name + "ic" + acid |
oxy acids | H, polyatomic ion with oxygen |
HNO3 (aq) = Nitric Acid | NO3 = Nitrate |
HNO2 (aq) = Nitrous Acid | NO2 = Nitrite |
HC2H3O3 (aq) = Acetic Acid | C2H3O3 = Acetate |
