Fractions and Decimals Vocabulary

| Fraction | a number that names equal parts of a whole or names an exact point on a number line |
| Numerator | the number above the fraction bar in a fraction that tells the number of equal parts that are being described |
| Denominator | the number below the fraction bar in a fraction that tells the number of equal parts in the whole |
| Multiplying Fractions | multiply numerator times numerator and denominator times denominator |
| Tenths | the parts formed when a whole is divided into ten equal parts |
| Hundredths | the parts formed when a whole is divided into one hundred equal parts |
| Common Denominator | a number that is a common multiple of the denominators of two or more fractions |
| Mixed Number | a number that is composed of a whole number and a fraction. |
| Fraction Greater Than One | a fraction where the numerator is greater than the denominator signifying that it is more than one whole. |
| Product | the result of multiplication |
| Decimal | a number containing a decimal point that separates a whole from fractional place values (tenths, hundredths, thousandths, and so on) |
| Decimal Point | the dot used in a decimal that separates the ones place from the tenths place |
