Term | Definition |

Assessment | The evaluation of a skill, ability, or knowledge or a person/thing. |
Accountability | Willingness to be accountable, being able to take responsibility of ones actions/words/ |
Documentaion | Gathering material that provides evidence, information, or acts as a record. |
Diagnostsic Assessment | Assess a learners current knowledge or views on a particular subject/idea. |
Formative Assessment | Assessing what the students know as they are learning it, on-going and continuous. |
Summative Assessment | Designed to measure how much a student knows at the conclusion of a course/unit/lesson. |
Authentic Assessment | Assessing the knowledge of what a student has learned but done in a meaningful way to the student. (not test, essays, quizes) |
Rubric | Scoring guide used to evaluate a students' work or show how one will be evaluated. |
Checklist | A comprehensive list of things to be done or achieved. |
Portfolio | A collection of work compiled over a period of time. Used for assessing or showcasing work. |
Artifact | Anything that provides evidence about a learning experience. |
Anecdotal Note | A detailed and descriptive narrative done after an observation, interaction, specific behavior. |
Observation | Observing an experience from beginning to end. |
Perception | A way of looking, understanding, and iterprerting something. |
Developmentally Appropriate Practice | Method of supporting and fostering learning and development of children. Doing so by using strategies/activities that are age, and developmentally appropriate. |
Planning | The act of thinking and carrying our ideas in regards to activities/lessons to achieve a desired learning outcome. |
Standards | Outline for what students are expected to learn. |
Objectives | What students will know or be able to do at the end of a lesson/unit. |
Standardized Test | A test that is given to all students in the same manner and graded in the same way. Used to assess a learning program. |
High-Stakes Testing | Used to make important decisions on a student or has an important outcome to the student. |
