English Fallacies

TermDefinition
Straw Man Oversimplifies an opponent's viewpoint and then attacks that hollow argument
Card Stacking Only using evidence to support an argument, and ignoring evidence that weakens it
Post Hoc "A" occurred after "B" then "B" must have caused "A"
Red Herring Irrelevant topic takes attention away from original issue
Hasty Generalization Conclusion about a population based on a sample
Ad Hominem Attack on the character of a person rather than their opinions or arguments
Non Sequitur Conclusion does not follow from the premise
