Human Body Organ Systems Organs and Functions

Organ systems A group of two or more organs working together for a specific job.
Organs Structures composed of specialized tissues designed to perform specific functions in plants and animals.
Function The job or normal activity of an organ or part.
Circulatory System Function The body system responsible for carrying materials through out the body
Circulatory System Organs Heart, arteries, veins, blood
Respiratory System Function The body system in which oxygen is brought into the body and carbon dioxide is released.
Respiratory System Organs Nose, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi, lungs
Digestive System Function The body system that takes in, breaks down, and absorbs nutrients that are necessary for growth
Digestive System Organs Teeth, tongue, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine
Muscular System Function The body system that enables it to move
Muscular System Organs Muscles (bicep, deltoid and quadricep) and tendons
Skeletal System Function The body system that gives protection and structure.
Skeletal System Organs Bones, cartilage, ligaments
Endocrine System Function The body system that has glands secrete hormones that regulate the body.
Endocrine System Organs Pituitary gland, thyroid gland, adrenal gland, testes, ovaries
Excretory System Function The body system that removes waste from your body and controls water balance.
Excretory System Organs Kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder, urethra
Nervous System Function The body system that receives information from the environment.
Nervous System Organs brain, spinal cord, nerves
