Expressions

power a number formed by raising a base to an exponet
coordinate grid/plane formed by 2 number lines that intersect at right angles
ordered pair a pair of numbers that gives the location of a point on a coordinate plane
x-axis the horizontal axis in a coordinate plane
origin the point where the x-axis and the y-axis intersect
order of operations the ordering rule for evaluation expression (PEMDAS)
base in a power, the number being multiplied
exponent in a power, it is the small raised number that says, "How many times?"
independent variable the first number in an ordered pair
dependent variable the second number in an ordered pair
expression a math phrase with no equal sign; contains number and operations
prime factors breaking down a composite number and writing it as the product of prime numbers
equivalent expression expressions that have the same value
quadrant the four regions created by a coordinate plane
y-axis the vertical axis in a coordinate plane
