Anglicize (verb) to render into the forms of English or to make similar to English
Dilatory (adjective) likely to cause delay; proceeding at an unsatisfactorily slow rate
Putative (adjective) reputed or generally regarded by common assent (be careful not to confuse it with punitive)
Exigency (noun) something requiring immediate action or attention; an emergency
Febrile (adjective) feverish; marked by elevated body temperature
Gormandize (verb) to eat in a greedy, ravenous manner; eating to satisfy a voracious appetite
Herculean (adjective) strong and powerful; daunting or formidable -- so difficult as to require the strength of Hercules
Imperious (adjective) haughty; also, urgent
Masticate (verb) to chew; knead and grind with the teeth
Mollify (verb) to allay (a person's) anger; also, to lessen the impact of
Oblique (adjective) angled; indirect
Peccadillo (noun) a minor fault; "little sin"
Restive (adjective) uneasy; impatient with delay
