When to use "tout" (adjective) Tout = masculine singular. On utilise tout quand ce qui suit est au singulier. Tout le temps/tout le village
When to use "tous" (adjective) Tous = masculine pluriel. On utilise tous quand le nom qui suit est au pluriel. Tous les matins; tous les jours.
When to use "toute" (adjective) Toute = féminin singulier Toute la journée/toute la neige
When to use "toutes (adjective) Toutes = féminin pluriel Toutes les nuits/toutes les vaches
Caution - pronouns Tous, toutes, tout can also be used as pronouns. They can replace a group plural, masculine or feminine. Ils ont tous un vélo. Elles ont toutes un vélo. Tout ce que tu dis est vrai.
Caution - adverbs Tout, toute, toutes can be adverbs (e.g., qualify an adjective). In which case, no variation. un livre tout neuf des livres tout neuf une veste tout usée
Tout in phrases Tout à coup, tout à l'heure, tout de suite, tout à fait, en tout cas, à tout prix, tout le temps, tout le monde
