Usurp verb: to seize or take control of political office, usually by force or without legal means
Smite verb: to strike forcefully (with a hand or object
Marital adj: war-like; inclined towards war
Brazen adj: shamelessly bold or defiant
Ratify verb: to give assent to ( a law, an amendment, a decision), making it officially valid
Mettle noun: courage; resilience; the ability to cope with a tough situation in a strong way
Portentous adj: ominous; giving a sign that something important (usually bad) is going to happen
Mote noun: a small particle or speck, usually dust
Harbinger noun: an omen or sign; anything that foreshadows a future event or signals something to come
Privy adj: sharing in the knowledge of something private or secret (usually followed by the word "to")
Hallowed adj: regarded as holy, sacred
Discretion noun: 1. the quality of being discreet... 2. the freedom to act or make decisions according to one's own judgement
Imperial adj: of or relating to an empire or an emperor; domineering
Auspicious adj: giving a sign of future success; favorable
Mirth noun: happiness or amusement, often accompanied by laughter
Dirge noun: a funeral song or lament
Suspiration noun: a long, deep sigh
Obsequious adj: obedient, dutiful (modern, describes someone who is overly flattering)
Impious adj: not showing due respect for a superior
Peevish adj: feeling or showing irritation, usually over minor things
