5.2- Geometry Vocab
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Median (of a triangle) | a segment with one endpoint at a vertex of the triangle and the other endpoint at the midpoint of the opposite side |
| MedianTheorem (of a triangle) | the medians of a triangle are concurrent |
| Centroid | the point of concurrency of the medians of a triangle, the center of mass or balancing point of the triangle |
| Centroid Theorem | the medians of a triangle intersect at a point called the centroid that is two thirds of the distance from each vertex to the midpoint of the opposite side |
| Altitude (of a triangle) | a segment from a vertex to the line containing the opposite side and perpendicular to the line containing that side |
| Altitude Theorem (of a triangle) | the altitudes of a triangle are concurrent |
| Orthocenter | the point of concurrency of the altitudes of a triangle, does not have any simple interesting properties |
| What is the point of concurrency for a perpendicular bisector? | circumcenter |
| What is the point of concurrency for a angle bisector? | incenter |
| What is the point of concurrency for a median? | centroid |
| What is the point of concurrency for an altitude? | orthocenter |
