| Evaluate | Replace each variable with a number, and then follow the order of operations |
| Exponent | A number that shows how many times a base is used as a factor |
| Like terms | Terms that have identical variable parts are "like terms" |
| Numerical expression | A mathematical phrase that consists of numbers and operation symbols |
| Power | A number expressed using an exponent |
| Simplify | Combine the like terms of the expression |
| Substitution | Where you replace the variable with a number |
| Term | A number, a variable, or the product of a number and one or more variables |
| Variable | A letter that represents an unknown value |
