TermDefinition
Zigote A fertilized egg. produced by the joining of a sperm and an egg
Pollination The transfer of pollen from male reproductive structures to female reproductive structures in plants
Cones The reproductive structures of gymnosperms
Ovule A plant structure in seed plants that produces the female gametophyte ; contains an egg cell
Fruit The ripened ovary and other structures of an angiosperm that enclose one or more seeds
Germination The sprouting of the embryo out of a seed; occurs when the embryo resumes its growth following dormancy
Disperse To be scattered or moved from one place to another
process a series of actions or steps taken in order to achieve a particular end
Sporophyte stage Part of the plant life cycle during which spores are produced
Gametophyte stage Part of the plant life cycle during which sex cells (also called gametes) are formed
Gymnosperms Plants that reproduce whith cones and unprotected seeds
Angiosperms Plants that reproduce using flowers and fruits that contain seeds
