| merchant | A buyer and seller of goods for profit. |
| migrate | To move from one country or region to another. |
| mineral | A substance (such as quartz, coal, petroleum, salt, etc.) that is naturally formed under the ground. |
| pay dirt | Earth or ore that yields a profit to a miner. |
| population | The whole number of people or inhabitants in a country or region. |
| prospector | A type of explorer, but one with a specific purpose of finding mineral deposits (such as gold). |
