What is Permeate? Use the word in a sentence. -Verb To flow or spread throughout; penetrate The fire permeated 10 miles of forest land.
Rudimentary Adjective Fundamental: necessary to learn first. To do well in intermediate Algebra, one must first learn rudimentary preAlgebra concepts.
Despondent Adjective Depressed; overwhelmed with sadness After Jose's death, I became despondent for a week.
Sensory Adjective Learning should be a sensory experience. One should use all of their sense to capture material better.
Vicarious Adjective 1.Not experience directly: indirectly 2. experienced or realized through imaginative or sympathetic participation in the experience of another. The narrator's description of his plight was detail. Thus, I vicariously experienced his story.
Scoff VERB To make fun of: mock In general, weak kids are scoffed by bullies at school.
Collaborate Verb To work together. I collaborated to paint the room with my brother.
Perfunctory Adjective Done only as a routine, with little interest or care; uninterested. The doctor went though the motions as he checked the patient without honestly being concerned about him.
Notorious Adjective Widely known but unfavorably. Al Capone was a notorious gangster. He smuggled alcohol into the country during the alcohol ban.
Embody Verb To give concrete form to; Express, personify, exemplefy in concrete form; represent; materialize. 2. include, intergrate. 3. categorize MLK embodies the fight for freedom through peace.
Scrupulous Adjective Careful about moral standards, ethical, conscientious. In most cases, unethical lawyers only work for the money, regardless of their client's crime. On the other hand, scrupulous lawyers aim to do justice rather than gain profit.
Sieve Verb Separate to refine, seep through. First, you must sieve the wine so the impurities can be extracted.
Predisposed Adjective Likely. Kids that are brought up in violent environments are predisposed to be violent.
Standardize Verb Make Uniform. SAT tests were standardize to evaluate students academic level going into college.
Turmoil Noun State of confusion. During the crime incident at the school, students lived moments of turmoil, unaware of what had happened.
Contingency Noun Possible future event that must be prepared for; a possibility. An 8.8 earthquake eradicated 90% of Chile. As a result, neighboring countries are preparing for any similar contingency.
Oblivion Noun 1. State of being forgotten or unknown. 2. state of forgetting: metal blankness, nothingness. Similar to Yoga exercises, where one's mind is relaxed, Hypnosys puts the mind in a oblivion
Placid Adjective Tendin1g or appearing to be calm; easy going. My dog Yogi is a placid pet. He happily welcomes all visitors at the door.
Retribution Noun Punishment. The death penalty is the ultimate retribution to crime offenders.
Flit Verb Move lightly and softly; fly, dart or skim again; to pass by quickly Insects flit around the dead animal.
