WOT D - INDISPENSABLE (ADJ) Definition - Absolutely necessary Example: Although we can live a long time without food, water is indispensable.
WOT D - MORTIFY (V) Definition: To cause someone to feel terrible embarrassment Example: At my graduation party, my brother mortified me when he began to sing off-key into the karaoke machine.
WOT D - FINANCE (N) (V) Definition: (N) Affairs related to money (V) to provide money for someone or something Example: My mother has been very successful in finance. The profits from her investments helped finance our family’s restaurant.
WOT D - BOUNTIFUL (ADJ) Definition: More than enough Example: Because everyone brought something to eat, we had a bountiful amount of food for the potluck.
chronic - ( adj. ) Definition: Continuing or occurring again and again for a long time; happening or existing frequently or most of the time. Example: His arthritis causes chronic pain
chronicle - ( n . ) Definition: A description of events in the order they happened. Example: Students taking American history must read a chronicle of the Revolutionary War.
chronological - ( adj. ) Definition: Arranged in the order that things happened or came to be ; using time as a measurement. Example: The lawyer made a chronological list of events that occurred leading up to the accident.
chronometer - ( n. ) Definition: A watch or clock that measures time precisely. Example: The scientist measured elapsed time with a chronometer.
synchronize - ( v. ) Definition: To cause things to agree in time or to make things happen at the same time and speed. Example: The dancers worked hard to synchronize their movements with the music.
planetarium - ( n. ) Definition: A building or room in which images of stars, planets, etc. are shown on a high curved ceiling. Example: The young boy loved learning about space and was thrilled to get to visit the planetarium.
aquarium - ( n. ) Definition:A glass or plastic container in which fish and other water animals and plants can live; a building people can visit to see water animals and plants.Example: John has a small aquarium in his bedroom that holds three goldfish and a tropical fish.
emporium - ( n. ) Definition: A long retail store, especially one selling a great variety of articles. Example: Settlers came from miles away to buy and sell at the emporium.
assessment - ( n. ) Definition: The act of making a judgement about something;the result of an evaluation.Example: After her careful assessment of my outfit of the first day of school, Mom dropped me off.
amendment - ( n. ) Definition:A change in the words or meaning of a law or document ( such as a constitution ); a change made by correction, addition, or deletion. Example: Mrs. Jones made a few amendments to the article i wrote for the school paper.
