Rotational Motion

TermDefinition
angular displacement the difference between 2 angles measured from a distance line
radian how angles are measured for circular motion
period T the time it takes to make one trip around the circle
frequency f how many revolutions around the circle the particle makes in one second
torque a measure of how effective a force is at turning an object
N*m the SI unit for torque
line of action the line that the force moves along
moment arm the perpendicular distance that the force acts on
positive torque tries to rotate an object counterclockwise
negative torque tries to rotate an object clockwise
angular acceleration a response to the total torque acting on an object
kg*m^2/s the SI unit for momentum
