Geometry Chapter 3
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| parallel lines | never intersect, go in the same direction, in the same plane |
| skew lines | never intersect, go in different directions, different planes |
| transversal | line that intersects 2 or more coplanar, parallel lines |
| interior angles | inside the parallel lines |
| exterior angles | outside the parallel lines |
| alternate interior angles | 2 non-adjacent interior angles on opposite sides of transversal, make a Z, congruent |
| alternate exterior angles | 2 non-adjacent exterior angles on opposite sides of transversal, congruent |
| same side interior angles | 2 interior angles on the same side of transversal, make a C, suppl |
| corresponding angles | 1 interior and 1 exterior angle , non-adjacent , on the same side of transversal, make an F, congruent |
| if a line is perpendicular to one of two parallel lines then | it is perpendicular to the other |
| slop-intercept form | y=mx+b |
| proof with parallel lines in given | ll--> etc. |
| proof with parallel lines in prove | etc. --> ll as the last step |
