TermDefinition
box office a place at a theater or other arts establishment where tickets are bought or reserved
call board a bulletin board in a theater on which announcements for the cast and crew are posted
debut a first public appearance; perform in public for the first time
dynamic character a character who changes significantly throughout the story
epilogue a section or speech at the end of a book or play that serves as a comment or a conclusion to what has happened in the play
finale the last part of a piece of music, a performance, or a public event, especially when particularly dramatic or exciting
flat character one-dimensional character who isn't layered or deep—having just has one or two traits that make up their whole personality
marquee a sign usually over the entrance of a theater or arena that displays the names of featured attractions and principal performers
melodrama a sensational dramatic piece with exaggerated characters and exciting events intended to appeal to the emotions
overture a beginning, an opening piece of muisic, usually written to be played in the musical theatre before the curtain goes up
