What is a Retinol? A Retinol is a type of Retnoid It is a deriviant of Vit A and an Anti Oxidant When retinol comes into contact with the skin it breaks down and forms retonic acid where it increases cell turnover and boosts collagen production. Plumps hydrates the skin
What is Salycilic acid? Breaks down dead skin cells which clogs pores Reduces the apperance of black heads, prevents breakouts occouring, reduces sebum It is antibacterial/anti inflammatory heals breakouts/ reduces swelling of existing blemishes = healing
What is Nicinamide Comes from vit B3 Inproves skin texture = smooths the skin Reduces black heads/ breakouts
What is Vit C? Hydrates and brightens the skin Protects against inflammation caused by free radicles Can go brown when exposed to oxygen Has to be stable form of vit c to be effective
What is a Peptide? A peptide tells the skin what to do by changing the skins amino acid, they communicate directly within the cells and can tell them what to do They stimulate more collagen, elastin and hylaronic acid
What is an Amino Acid? These are bulding blocks to form protein structures such as collagen fibres, muscle tissue etc
What is a Ceramide? These are lipids that help form a water resistant seal over the stratum corneum, basically they hold in water/ prevent tewl ( trans epidermal water loss)
What is hylaronic acid? Hylaronic acid is a humectant meaning that it can hold up to 600 times its own weight. Basically its water and is part of the skins nmf natural moisturising factor
What is a Free Radicle? A free radicle is anything that can cause harm to the skin so for example pollution, uv, smoke etc
What is an Antioxidant? They protect skin cells by neutralising harmfull free radicles that try and destroy our skin
What is Glycolic Acid is a type of aha it is an exfoliant which helps shed dead skin cells revealing brighter newer skin underneath. Stimulates fibroblasts to in the dermis to increase collagen levels - skin is brighter hydrated more radiant, firmer
