Geometry Vocabulary
| Term | Definition |

| polyhedron | a three-dimensional figure in which all the surfaces or faces are polygons |
| net | an arrangement of 2-D figures that can be folded (along edges) to become the faces of the polyhedron |
| pyramid | polygon base with triangular faces that meet in a vertex |
| face | a flat surface of a solid |
| base | how 3-D figures are classified; usually the bases' shape is different from other faces |
| prism | all faces other than or including bases are rectangles |
| vertex | the point where two or more edges meet |
| edge | line segment where two faces meet |
| cylinder | two congruent circular bases connected by a curved lateral surface |
| cone | a 3-D figure with one vertex and one circular base |
| parallelogram | a quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides |
| square | a parallelogram with four congruent sides and four right angles. |
| composite shape | two or more shapes that are put together to make a new shape |
| area of a triangle formula | (Base x Height) / 2 |
| area of a square or rectangle formula | Length x Width |
