| Imagery | descriptive language used to appeal to a reader's senses: touch, taste, smell, sound, and sight. |
| Onomatapoeia | the process of creating a word that phonetically imitates, resembles, or suggests the SOUND that it describes |
| Simile | A figure of speech comparing 2 unalike things, using the words “Like” or “As.” |
| Poetry | A genre of literature in which intensity is given to the expression of feelings and ideas. |
| Stanzas | Poetry lines that are arranged into groups (looks like a paragraph) |
| Personification | Giving and object or thing person like qualities. |
| metaphor | a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable |
