Slope The steepness of a line on a graph, equal to its vertical change divided by its horizontal change
Negative Slope Line falls from left to right
Positive Slope line rises from left to right
Slope formula (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
Coordinate (x, y)
Ratio A comparison of two quantities by division
Rate of change A ratio that compares the amount of change in a dependent variable to the amount of change in an independent variable
undefined slope the slope of a vertical line
zero slope the slope of a horizontal line
How to find the slope on a graph rise over run
y-intercept the y-coordinate of the point where the line crosses the y-axis
slope-intercept form y=mx+b
x-axis the horizontal axis on a coordinate plane
y-axis the vertical axis on a coordinate plane
x-intercept the x-coordinate of the point where the line crosses the x-axis
