| Parenthetical | word or words added to a sentence without changing meaning or grammar of the original sentence and gives extra information that is not essential. |
| Parody | imitation of a particular writer, artist or a genre, exaggerating it deliberately to produce a comic effect. |
| Pathos | Appeal to emotion. |
| Polysyndeton | the repetition of conjunctions in a series of coordinate words, phrases, or clauses. |
| Satire | the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues. |
| syllogism | a deductive system of formal logic that presents two premises that inevitably lead to a sound conclusion. |
| Travesty | a false, absurd, or distorted representation of something. |
| Trope | a figurative or metaphorical use of a word or expression. |
| Zeugma | a figure of speech in which a word, usually a verb or an adjective, applies to more than one noun, blending together grammatically and logically different ideas. |
| Periphrasis | use of longer phrasing when the shorter form is possible. |
| Simile | Comparison using like or as. |
