climate the weather conditions in an area over a long period of time
ice core a long cylidnaer of ice obtained from drilling through ice caps or ice sheetes used to study past climates
relitave dating any method of determining whether an ebent or object is older or younger than other events or objects
superposition a principal that states that younger rocks lie above older rocks if the layersw have not been distributed
uncomformity a break in the geologic recodf created when rock layers are eroded or when sediment is not depostited for a long peroid of time
geologic colllumn an orderd arrangment of rock layers that is based on the relitive ages of rocks and in wich oldestr riocks are on the bottom
