TermDefinition
Circle The set of all points equidistant from one point, called the radius
Arc A portion of the circumference of a circle.
Radius A segment from the center of a circle to a point on the circumference.
Chord A line segment connecting two points of a circles circumference.
Diameter The chord that passes through the center of a circle. It divides the circle into 2 congruent parts called semi-circles. It is the longest chord in a circle.
Line The set of all points that extend infinitely in the opposite direction. A line is infinite and immeasurable. It is uniquely determined by two points.
Segment A part of a line that is finite and measurable.
Angle Bisector A segment/line that divides and angles into two congruent angles.
Midpoint A point that divides a segment into two congruent parts.
Segment Bisector A segment or line that goes through a segment at its midpoint. It divides a segment into two congruent parts.
Perpendicular Segments, lines or rays that meet and form a right angle.
Perpendicular Bisector A segment or line that intersects a segment at its midpoint and also meets at a right angle.
Parallel Lines Two lines in the same plane that do not intersect. The distance between them remains constant.
