QuestionAnswer
form The way its words and lines are arranged on a page (Structure).
free verse A poetic form that has no regular patterns of line length, rhyme, or rhythm.
stanza Groups of lines that form a unit (small paragraphs).
sonnet A poem written in traditional form. It will include rhyming words at the end of lines.
meter A pattern of stressed and unstressed syllables that create a regular rhyme.
end rhymes Rhyming words at the end of lines.
internal rhyme Rhymes within lines.
allusion A reference to a famous person, place, event, or work of literature.
simile A comparison of two unlike things using the words "like" or "as".
metaphor A comparison of two unlike things by saying that one thing is different than the other (comparing 2 things without using words "like" or "as".
